Job Title: Assistant Director, Due Diligence Research

Salary Range: 70-78k

Job Summary: The Assistant Director, Due Diligence Research to join Stanford's Medical Center Development (MCD) team and will oversee the intake, tracking, and notification process for the MCD donor vetting effort. You will perform sensitive philanthropic due diligence research and provide high quality assessments around reputational risk, negative news, legal issues, or other office sanctions related to prospective donors. If you have research experience, sensitivity to privacy standards, diplomacy and the ability to operate independently, then this position might be for you. You will report to the Director of Research, Strategic Reporting and Prospect Advancement, while working closely with colleagues on the Major Gifts team within MCD and the wider Stanford Office of Development, particularly the Office of Planned Giving and other key external colleagues.

Job Duties: - Independently providing consultation and expertise in due diligence assessments. Managing a negative news alert and background checks processes. Collaborating with MCD colleagues to ensure these processes are completed as necessary. - Conducting due diligence research notes with detailed vetting on prospective donors. Researching and analyzing prospective donor's background information, interests, pattern pf philanthropy, relationships using a variety of databases, publications, and other on-line services. Assisting supervisor in communicating due diligence methodology, processes, and procedures. - Overseeing the day to day due diligence research request tracking process. Notifying fundraisers, fundraising managers, and other key personnel of any status updates, as appropriate. - Being able to pivot to more traditional prospect research depending on current due diligence demand flow. Undertaking prospect and donor research, analyzing and summarizing qualitative and quantitative data, preparing detailed reports on individuals, and in some cases, corporations, and foundations identified as prospective donors, and recommend strategies. May prepare presentations to summarize findings. - Tracking prospect activity and providing historical records of prospect/donor relationship with the institution and other philanthropic organizations. - Communicating and educating fundraisers and in-team colleagues about trends in the emerging field of due diligence/reputational research in philanthropy. - Identifying ways to improve the dissemination and storage of due diligence-related information.

Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree and two years related experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. - Experience in prospect research and/or background vetting and due diligence on individuals. - Ability to work within a team environment. - Strong communication, analytic and critical thinking skills. - Demonstrated strong computer skills including advanced Excel skills. - Excellent track record of experience with on-line database and internet searches. - Ability to manage own workload and client relationship and needs.
