Job Summary: Under supervision of the Manager of Prospect Research and Management, the Prospect Research Coordinator provides research support to the External Relations unit and the Office of the Chancellor. The incumbent is responsible for researching, collecting, and compiling background materials and research reports on prospective and existing external supporters, which includes individuals, corporations, and foundations. The incumbent will ensure that accurate information is maintained concerning relationships with potential major gift prospects and works with staff to ensure accurate data entry and information management for donors and prospects.
Job Duties: Key Responsibilities: -Prospect Research o Conducts in-depth prospect research by identifying, compiling, and analyzing biographical and public information on individuals, corporations, and foundations; Analyzes and interprets complex financial and biographical data to determine potential relationship(s) with the university, interests, and giving capacity; Focus will be on major gift level prospects. -Data and Reporting o Ensures prospect profiles are incorporated into database and information is appropriately entered into constituent records by updating, coding, and maintaining the constituent database of donors, alumni and friends of UC Merced, as related to prospect research; Maintains consistency and integrity of prospect research information within the databases; Maintains ethical standards and confidentially with all sensitive data. -Ad-Hoc and Special Projects o Supports unit in completion of special requests, reports, and needs. Completes specialized research as needed. *This position is represented by CX- Clerical and Allied Services.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree from accredited institution and/or three years progressive experience with administrative, client service duties. o Excellent research and administrative skills, knowledge and understanding of available research tools via the Internet and library sources. o Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate complex information in a form which is comprehensible to a diverse audience. o Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals and to respond flexibly and positively in difficult circumstances. o Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, while maintaining the security of confidential and sensitive donor information. o Strong demonstrated organizational and time management skills and the ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks, to establish priorities, and work independently or in a team environment to accomplish goals within established deadlines. o Familiarity with computers and demonstrated knowledge of relational database concepts and complex data structures and relationships. o Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, rules, and regulations, and to learn regulations governing charitable giving.
