Job Summary: As part of UCLA's Donor Engagement team, the Prospect Research team works in partnership with data analysts and relationship management liaisons to best provide research results, prospect information and strategic data to development officers that is highly effective throughout all aspects of the prospect fundraising cycle.
Job Duties: Reporting to the Director, Prospect Research, the Research Analyst is responsible for delivering comprehensive and strategic research through the review of available donor information and financial activities as part of identifying philanthropic interests at UCLA and externally. Through immersion in the research process, the Research Analyst will generate an analysis of prospects, comment on prospect strategies, and deliver current news and other information to support and move forward the fundraising priorities of development officers. In addition, the Research Analyst will work with other team members to enhance existing research tools and methods as well as share information about new technologies to expand prospect research capabilities.

Job Requirements: Ideal candidates will have knowledge of prospect research methodology and ethical standards as well as the ability to interpret wealth indicators and appropriately apply demographic information. Through the utilization of various research and analytical tools, as well as previous experience with donor giving trends, the Research Analyst will be able to prioritize prospects based on their propensity to give to the University. Skill and resourcefulness in using references to gather necessary information to complete projects as well as excellent written and verbal communication for preparation of research profiles and related products to development officer are essential requirements for this position. The Research Analyst will be able to perform a wide variety of prospect and donor research and have a strong track record of analyzing information. Ideal candidates will preferably have an ability to apply statistical findings to data resources to identify trends, relationships, and UCLA affinity; familiarity with analytics models; experience analyzing and organizing information to identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies, and relationships among prospects; and familiarity with social media as a fundraising tool to identify and learn more about prospects.
