Job Summary: Position: Prospect Research Associate Payroll title: Prospect Research Specialist 3 Final Filing Date: 10/18/2018 Req #: 03022547 Reporting to the Assistant Director of Prospect Research works collaboratively with more than 80+ academic and central development program fundraisers and senior leaders to provide information that can be strategically applied throughout the development cycle to build, maintain and strengthen the relationships that lead to private gifts to the university. As an integral member of a 12+ person team, contributes to a comprehensive program of proactive research (prospect identification) and reactive research (prospect background information and financial information) to support campus-wide fundraising programs. Position utilizes an expansive set of resources, research strategies and intelligence-gathering techniques. Works to increase the pool of potential major gift donors ($50,000+) and learns how to provide customized and strategic information that helps build relationships and increase giving. Writes a variety of research documents with a focus on biographical information and preliminary financial information. Interprets and synthesizes large volumes of information/data into easily comprehensible information. Clearly communicates results of research/analysis as research deliverables.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Working knowledge and understanding of prospect research, library science or fundraising fundamentals, preferable in a higher education setting. Analytical skills to interpret, synthesize and organize a high volume of information from a variety of sources. Strong computer skills and demonstrated background in internet based research. Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of products including excel; skills to download and export data between systems. Strong writing skills to write clearly and concisely, synthesizing material from multiple sources into an accurate deliverable. Excellent oral communication skills to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner. Skills to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications: Decision making skills to work independently, anticipate challenges, manage multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines. Innate curiosity and ability to think critically, strategically and creatively when researching. Ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team. Basic knowledge wealth indicators and assets. Excellent customer service skills. Experience working with a relational database, preferably Ellucion Advance.
