Director of Prospect Development

Director of Prospect Development to join this historic effort.



The position represents an outstanding professional opportunity for 

a seasoned development research professional to help one of the top 

fundraising programs in the nation create a new model in American 

higher education: a privately financed public university with the 

means to chart its own course toward global excellence.

Job Duties:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services, 

the Director will perform a critical role overseeing the principal 

and major donor prospect tracking and management system. The 

Director will work closely with senior development management, chief 

development officers and fundraisers across Grounds to provide 

strategic direction on the progress and performance of fundraising 

efforts. The Director is responsible for management of the prospect 

research functions in support of the institution’s overall 

fundraising effort, with a particular focus on prospect tracking and 

management and principal relationship development.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree with coursework 

in research principles, writing, communications, marketing, library 

sciences, or a related field; however, a bachelor’s degree and 

significant experience may be considered in lieu of a master’s 

degree.   The ideal candidate will be a seasoned development 

professional with leadership experience in prospect research and 

management, advanced knowledge of supervisory and management 

principles and a collaborative management style. This position 

requires the ability to effectively communicate with a broad base of 

constituents, including senior University administrators, 

professional fundraisers and staff. The ability to collaborate with 

other advancement services is also essential.
