Job PostingMills College Assistant Director - Prospect Research and Records Salary range: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403b retirement plan, 22 days vacation plus 13 paid holidays and 12 sick days annually. Staff also receives free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period.Job Summary: The Assistant Director performs research on prospective donors and analyzes their potential for giving to the College; is responsible for maintaining donor information integrity in the database and files; supervises the Data Analyst and Constituent Records Specialist; supports OIA staff with their data needs; and fills in for the Director in her absence. Job Duties: Duties include the following: Plan and implement all prospect research, concentrating on major individual donors ($100K+) and corporations and foundations, including planning for a campaign Collect, interpret, organize, communicate, and apply research information to fundraising activities Create, enhance, and implement systems for achieving research goals and objectives Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise two professionals who maintain donor records and provide donor lists for annual fund, major gifts, alumnae relations, and academic department and campus-wide mailings to alumnae and other donors Work constantly to improve the integrity of the donor data including development of reports and systems to monitor for problems Develop plan for integration of donor files from two or more sources and manage filing techniques and procedures Provide back-up as needed to Data Analyst Provide database training for new members of the development office Maintain library of research resources; periodically evaluate resources and recommend subscriptions Attend all relevant staff meetings and attend meetings of Mills database users groups Hire, train, and supervise student workers who maintain department files, perform data entry, and provide general office assistance Perform related other duties, as needed Job Requirements: Knowledge of: Knowledge of prospect research preparation for campaign Comprehensive understanding of prospect research principles and ethics, wealth indicators, fundraising strategies, and traditional as well as online resources Federal and state privacy regulations as apply to fundraising Knowledge of APRA Advanced Skills Set Donor confidentiality, research professional ethics, and fundraising best practices A large relational database, SCT Banner preferred MS Word, Excel, web browsers, search engines Ability to: Initiate new directions for prospect research when warranted, especially in planning for a campaign Analyze and synthesize information to produce concise, accurate, and detailed research documents Work independently, manage projects, prioritize, develop and implement strategies for achieving goals Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment Establish and maintain an effective customer service orientation towards all persons contacted during the course of job performance Work safely in compliance with the Colleges Injury and Illness Prevention Plan Education and Experience: Bachelors degree and previous experience as a prospect researcher Successful supervisory experience Contact: To apply, please send resume, cover letter specifying job title, salary requirements, and contact information for three references to: Human Resources Mills College 5000 MacArthur Blvd. Oakland, CA 94613 510 430-3311 - fax hire@mills.edu Email: hire@mills.edu Web: www.mills.edu |
