Manager, Major Donor Development

Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP) is a public benefit

every four-year-old in Los Angeles County, regardless of their

General Summary: 

Under the general direction of the Director of Fund Development, the 

Manager will seek sustainable revenue from individuals through 

various methods.  The Manager: provides leadership and support to 

auxiliary fundraising committees; ensures timely and accurate 

maintenance of all gifts, solicitation and donor information, and 

ensures tracking and fulfillment of pledges, donor recognition 

activities, receipting and timely acknowledgement.  The Manager will 

also provide business intelligence reports to analyze the 

effectiveness of the development efforts.

- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and experience 

working as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and the 

ability to maintain cooperative working relationships. 

- Able to plan and execute major donor fundraising events. 

- Knowledge of computer systems appropriate to the requirements of 

the position, including proficiency with MS Office applications and 

experience with fundraising donor database software. 

- Strong communications, organizational, interpersonal and 

facilitation skills. 

- Ability to carry out assignments independently and excellent time 

management skills. 

- Excellent communication skills both written and oral. 

- Experience in goal setting and measuring achievement of goals. 

- Maintain awareness of the activities of other members of the team 

to enable mutual support during times of high pressure activity. 

Job Requirements:

- Knowledge of the non-profit sector, foundations and other grant-

making bodies; 

- Strong organizational and administrative skills; 

- The ability to plan, set goals and objectives and then organize and 

follow through. 

Ability to think strategically, plan, set goals and objectives and to 

organize and follow through. 

Preferred Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years related experience. 



Formal Education: A Bachelors degree is required.  A Master’s in a 

field related to development is preferred.  Extensive successful work-

experience in the field may substitute for formal education 

requirements.
