    2009-2010 Board of Directors Call for Nominations

    The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the CARA Board.  The recruitment of service-oriented members with strong organizational skills and a commitment to working with others is vital to our continued success.  Serving on the CARA Board is a special opportunity to give back while gaining valuable leadership experience.

    Deadline for nominations is Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

    Criteria for Nominees:

    • Must be a verified current member of CARA

    • Have a minimum two years of advancement research or related professional experience

    • Have a record of previous service to CARA or APRA volunteer experience

    It is also preferred that not more than one person from the same organization appear on the ballot, insuring staggered terms if others from the same organization are board members.

    Board Composition:

    • Directors are elected to three-year terms and are limited to two consecutive terms of office.

    • Directors completing two consecutive terms must have a one-year absence between elections.

    • Following the election, the new CARA Board assigns board positions.

    • Officers are: President, Treasurer, and Secretary (requires APRA and CARA membership).

    • Other directors: Northern California Regional Chair, Southern California Regional Chair, Membership Chair, Communications Chair, Mentor Chair, Marketing Chair, and two Conference Co-Chairs.

    • Board members are not required to maintain the same position for three years.

    • 2009 CARA Conference

    October 22 and 23, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza Irvine.

    The 2009 conference is an outstanding value.  Registration fees have not been increased and the room rates have been lowered to $99 per night!

    Scholarships will be available! Contact Conference Co-Chair Diana Moore with your ideas for programming topics and speakers.
